i?m going to be completely honest about this place...so honest that I am not afraid to put my name

so i am a first year grad student and this is my first time living alone in an apartment. so, i cannot compare it to other apertments, however I have seen other apartments in the area and can recognize that this place is crappy.

Ok, it all began when I moved in and recieved a hardwood floor that has wooden tiles that are weatherworn and falling apart near the sliding balcony door. 2 of the 3 balcony glass windows were weather warped and could barely be seen through. There was another glass window which had a crack in it. The freezer door in my archaic refrigerator (yes I said IN the fridge because its an old fridge with the freezer within and not separate) was also almost broken. So After the the lady who rented me the studio apartment walked thru with me and noted the problems, she said that they would be taken care of asap. well, it is now March and i moved in on sept 5 and i have even more problems and none of the original problems were taken care of.

so thats the first day. let me tell you about the first week. the first week I was sleeping on the floor because my furniture had not arrived yet. I woke up my first morning there to ants throughout the middle of the floor. so i thought maybe i just had a couple, but each day i had more and more. i swept everyday and didnt have any funiture besides a couple of suitcases and a phone and TV. so, the ants originated in the wooden floor tiles. then as if that wasnt nasty enuf, there was a fruitfly infestation which I remedied by bleaching my my kitchen drain eveyday. one time i went away for a weekend and i turned on the sink and about 7 flies came out of the drain. I almost passed out in horror. So, back to the first week. Later in the week, the fire alarm went off at 12 mindite for 1 hour. It took that long for the alarm to be turned off.

this is the last thing that i will mention. there are more, but i will wait to see how it is when i move out.
the HEAT and UTILITIES.
upon moving in i was told that the i would be responsible for the electric bill. the heat, a/c, lights were all run on electric. she told me that the bill would be like 70 bucks. however the only time it was near seventy was when it was 78 for the month of dec/jan when i was only there for 2 of the 5 billing weeks. ok, but about the heat. as soon as the 20 degree weather hit, my heat broke. so, by november my heat broke twice a week. the maintainence staff came to fix it promptly, however, the apts would not replace the unit. the bad part was that once the heat broke, it would blow cold air in an attempt to get up to 78, it would blow 58 degree air (therefore it would run up the electric bill while blowing cold air throughout the apt). I would wake up to a freezing apt! by december i was fed up and threatened to leave if it wasn?t fixed. they then contracted out an HVAC person. he spent 2 days there tryin to fix it. he did fix it finally and it worked well. then i went away for christmas break and came back in mid jan. the heat was working fine and i was satisfied. the ants were dead from the ant traps, the fruitflies died off, and the heat worked.
but then the electric bills kept elevating from 150, to 170, then finally the feb/march bill was 278 and the heat was breaking periodically again throughout the end of Feb and March.
so, all in all the maintenance was fast, my apartment building was very quiet, and i haven?t encountered any burgularies yet. However, it is not worth the high rent and the apartments are in SHODDY condition. i would discourage renting from this place...

ps...the people in the office arent honest and do not fulfill promises. the emergency maintainance service hotline people were rude as well. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
