A woman was murdered here yesterday. Management sends out an oh-so-carefully worded letter that says that a resident was the victim of homicide and yet fails to mention the teensy little detail that IT HAPPENED IN THE DAMN APARTMENT BUILDING! Seems like that is something residents might like to know. And the rest of the letter was a gem too. "As you can appreciate, no one can assure your safety. Please remember that your security is your responsibility and that of the local law enforcement agencies." That's nice. More concerned about avoiding responsibility than informing residents. Well, let me tell you something JPI, tenant safety is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TOO. Plenty of tort law to back that up. Like maybe now, after someone is murdered, you will be compelled to repair the garage gate that is broken and allows any car to enter or leave. Of couse, the letter says "Please do not allwow any unauthorized vehicles to enter with you." But I guess it is okay for management to do so.

The fact that someone was murdered here probably had nothing to do with a faulty garage gate, this time. But the fact that JPI would be so disingenous AND try to convince people they have no responsibility for tenant safety pisses me off.
