looks can be deceiving- management is crude and manipulative

STRONGLY NOT RECCOMMENDED! Management is awful. At first they seem very nice, personable and friendly. This is true until you have a problem. (Milena is the only person who seems genuinely nice in the front office). Right after I renewed my second year lease, I could smell mildew/mold in my bedroom, and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I explained this to management and they came to sniff it out for themselves. They denied the smell at first and told us it was from a dog, which we didnt have. They replaced my carpet after I explained to them that the smell was not from the carpet. I finally found mildew on the back of one of my picture frames hanging on the outside wall (as opposed to a support wall between two rooms, this was the wall with the window on it). They found a leak in the roof and thought it was sufficient to put a dehumidifier in my room to "clear the air." First, running that thing made my room 95 degrees and we had to pay the electricity to run it nonstop for 10 days. Secondly, for anyone who doesnt know, mildew and mold spores can grow bacteria that can potentially be very dangerous to your health. Therefore the wall should have been repaired properly by removing the damaged section. When the smell came back a few months later, they refused to do anything about it because they "couldn't smell it." One of my friends also rents from this complex and stated she has made calls to maintainence 4 times to fix a leaking shower, but maintainence can not fix it properly due to management restrictions. It should be noted that maintainence has always been very nice and gone out of their way to take care of their tennants; The problem is with management.
Also, this is the only place that requires tenants to give a 60 day notice of leaving- and you get fined up the ying yang when you dont give advanced notice. Due to computer errors, we got charged this fee of $600 twice: once with the closing of the apt and it was fined again within the security deposit. Management was rude, demeaning and offensive when confronted with the mistake. After waiting 5 hours for them to fix the issue, I was told "I think you need to be more patient, it is very busy and this is not our priority right now." This issue is still not resolved...I guess 600 bucks = pocket change'''
The apt complex itself is nice and seems like it would be a good place to live. The outside grounds are cared for by landscapers and it is a safe area. There is assigned parking for one car per apt, and there's plenty of room in the street to park unless there's a snowstorm (then you're screwed). The tennis court is pretty decent and the pool is well maintained and usually has a high school student as a lifeguard. They do have washers and dryers in 3 areas, however only one of these areas has machines that work well. The area next to the office has good machines and is the only one that makes you use a card to get in, otherwise it is kept locked. In the 2 years that I stayed at this place, I met 4 people who have had their entire set of laundry stolen from this room between 3 and 5 in the afternoon... oh by the way you only get one laundry card per apartment; an additional one will cost you $25.
In conclusion, my recommendation is that you find other housing. There are plenty of places in the area that have very competitive prices for the same amount of space, safety and parking. Whatever you do, PLEASE DO NOT RENT APT 37C!!!(unless you like mold)
