I've lived here for about six months now and it is beautiful. I loved it in the beginning, but now I can't wait to move out. Why' You can hear everything. I live upstairs in a two bedroom and I can hear both next door neighbors and especially my downstairs neighbors. When I say I can hear them, I mean I can hear their conversations, hear their phone ring, hear their alarm clock, hear them cough. Let me also state that I can actually see, yes see into my neighbors bedroom because there are gaping cracks between the ceiling and wall. I can also see light coming from my downstairs neighbor in two places along my wall. Obviously if I can see downstairs, I can hear them. The floors are 3" thick plank, but the carpet is laid right over it - NO soundproofing, no subfloor, no padding.
Think your dishwasher is loud' Wait until you move in.
Somebody saving a buck' You bet.
My dad is in the commercial estimating business, has been in construction for 40 years and he knows and deals with on a regular basis the company that won the bid for the architecture. His words were that they are complete morons. Granted they do big projects, but hey, this is Rhode Island - the home state of cutting corners.
After I told him how silly this place was, he said he wasn't surprised given who designed it.

So how's the construction' It's ok I guess. The only complaints I have (aside from the noise) is cutting corners. Half of the electrical outlets in my apartment pop out when you unplug something. Why' because the drywall screws which they used to screw some of them in are too short. Another thing, my front door sags now and is difficult to lock because 2 out of every 4 screws are going into the sheetrock instead of a beam. Not really sure how one could miss this.

Most of the people in the office are nice enough. There is one person that is just plain rude. You can tell that she's a local though and just doesn't know any better. Maintenance is awesome though, always friendly and helpful.

As far as pets.. I have one and I pick up after her. Unfortunately, I have to sidestep all the landmines left from other pet owners. The complex has sent out a memo stating that people need to pick up after their pets or they will be fined. Apparently nobody cares.

So, to sum it up... If you like noise, if you don't like to sleep, if you don't have an alarm clock but would like to use your neighbor's, then this is the place for you.

I would recommend this place to my enemy.

Thank you. I had the SAME exact issues. This place is just plain sad and pathetic. I agree with you, they definitely cut many corners and I know exactly who you're talking about in the office. I had many, many problems with her, and I didn't hold back being rude to her in return. I also reported her. She does not belong working there. I guess because I was younger, they felt the need to talk down to me like I'm some unintellegent college kid. I am college age, but I moved in there to start my life on my own, not to just have some place to stay for school and party all the time. I was quite and respectful of everyone there, except for that woman in the office of course. I actually made friends with most of my neighbors. They told me the same issues they were having. This place is a BIG waste of money and Halstead made our lives a living hell. Honest to god, they even made up stuff about us just to get us in trouble and/or make us want to leave. Congrats, they got what they wanted. When I went to complain about our neighbors who were screaming at each other and blasting music (by the way, they made complaints about us constantly after that even though we were barely ever home. Even after we moved out, they made complaints, then Halstead caugh on (too little too late). When and if we were home when we lived there, we were watching tv or sleeping) that woman picked up the phone and REFUSED to take our complaint and actually said "maybe they're trying to show you how loud it can get." I was in shock. We had to give up everything we ever started saving up (for college, a home, retirement, etc) to pay the ridiculous termination fee AND they didn't do a run-through of the apt w/ us, so we never received any of our $500 security deposit back. All we left were a couple scuff marks from moving stuff in and out and I know it didn't cost that full $500 to fix that. I lost all that money, but I finally am happy and it was worth it. I never thought I would say that, but I can't even begin to explain the hell they put me and my boyfriend through. I never got so mad or cried so much in my life. I learned a lesson though. I need to look into stuff WAY more before I make a decision. Waaaaaaaaay more. I lost so much hard earned money and everything I had ever saved up in my life to that horrible place. Thank god I found my home. I'm so happy now. Good luck with everything, and please be careful with them. They WILL screw money out of you.
