Ferland properties are not what they appear to be online. The unit I viewed online was recently remodeled, bright, and clean. What I actually ended up in was a dingy, run-down apartment that had design elements from the '70s (my kitchen was dark brown and yellow with gold appliances).

The onsite management responds to issues fairly promptly, though there are some things that they just accept as broken and don't care to fix (outside doors with broken locks, an outlet in my apartment that didn't work and was never fixed, etc.). I did come home to find a mouse in my apartment one night (I was horrified!), but the management arranged for pest control to visit my place soon after.

The worst part of renting from Ferland is Ferland. The administration is disorganized and the simply don't care about individuals. At one point my wallet was stolen (not while in the apartment) and the thief emptied my bank account. As a result my rent check bounced the next day and Ferland REFUSED to waive my bounced check fee (which was like $40) even after I explained why my check had bounced!!! I still can't believe that they are so callous!

My apartment was located in a bad neighborhood and I was a little afraid to go outside after dark. The walls couldn't be any thinner (I could hear water running in my neighbors apartment). The pipes made clicking noises in the winter that kept me up at night. There are lots of loud children in the area, and it is impossible to not hear them when they are playing outside.

I only stayed one year and got out, but had I wanted to stay my rent would have gone up considerably.

I would recommend you go elsewhere...Ferland seems to be one of those large companies that no one likes (for good reason).
