We recently decided to upgrade to a two bedroom two bathroom apt ($1300), in this complex, from our 1 bed 1 bath. We were told in order to upgrade now we had to break our lease which would cost us $1000. We are upset, if we were moving out and broke the lease we would understand the high price but we wanted to sign a longer contract and for more money. All we have to say is if they don't want to keep thier customers why would we stay. We even tried to reason with these people and wait until our lease was up as long as they could put us on the waiting list for what we want, we even were willing to put down a security deposit for the new apt. the response to that was--"we only do that for new customers not existing ones come see us again in a month." I am online trying to find the Aimco website but it is not available, it keeps rerouting me to more search engines...i guess i expected better for the amount we pay.

truth be told they have no problem having their current residents leave. They don't care about resident retension. They are the larget company in the country, they don't care. And their theory on hiring people is that any idiot can work there. They train them what to say with scripts. So thats why you have to be pushed around to gwet a real answer.

We left because people were able to rent the same apartment as us for $300 less a month. Management had no problem watching us leave and renting our apartment for less money. I'm glad we left; we were starting to see the effects of lower rent. People racing through the parking lots blasting music. Our new neighbor had a boyfirend who beeped to let her know he was there to pick her up at midnight. It was the modivation we needed to buy a house. Thanks Aimco!
