I moved into Royal Mills about 1 year ago because it appeared to be a really nice place for not much more money than many of the other apartments in the area. While the individual apartments were very nice, the number of times we were lied to and misled is astounding.
1. When we first were planning moving we were assured several times a pool was to being construction in spring of 08 and be finished by the summer of 08. Not only is there no pool (a feature we are paying for), but it is apparently not even being planned anymore.
2. When we signed our lease we were assured the elevator would be working. The told us that even if it was not available to the public that they would hire someone to work it on days when tenets were moving in, allowing them to use it for moving. When we moved in the elevator was not working and they would not allow us to use it for moving any of our stuff. Of the 9 months we have lived here we have had a working elevator for about 4, as it is broken once again.
3. The carpets are a mess. On our floor there are multiple stains from animals and crap all over the place. The carpets are also stretched out and are definitely a tripping hazard.
4. We are currently looking to purchase a home and were hoping to move out of our apartment 1 month early to make our closing date better. When we asked about this we were told that we have to give 2 months notice and then pay 2 months in penalty. Let's take a look at that; to leave in 60 days, we have to pay for 120 days, but only have 90 days left on the lease. That means we would have to pay an extra months rent to leave early. I would much rather just leave a vacant apartment.
5. Parking and safety are awful. Guest parking is across a fairly busy road in a dark area that cannot be seen from the road. People often prop doors open to make their lives easier, sacrificing the safety of everyone else. When the office is called nothing is done.
6. The biggest positive that Royal Mills offers is that it is quiet. Why is it so quiet' Probably because their plan was so terrible that there is nowhere near enough parking to fill up the newer section of the building. There is no parking left and no tenets near us.
Overall I would say this place is a mess. If you ask them for anything they treat you like you are a pain in their ass. Their only nice and helpful employees are no longer there. Their business model is very simple, over promise, under deliver, and if anyone complains, screw 'em.

No one debated the apartments are nice; but at what point are superficial features more important than safety and the basic conveniences one would seek from an apartment complex? I have lived in many different places, including Royal Mills, which I recently moved out of. I had many of the same concerns as the author of this review. I had gone to management many times and was blown off. I am glad you are happy, but keep in mind that there are only negative reviews on this site. You may actually be in the minority.

That is funny. I was pretty pissed when I read the comment insulting my spelling so I went back in to check it over again. The only word that is misspelled is "'em" at the very end of my review. I would recommend you learn to read, because my spelling is spot on.

No i do not work for Royal Mills nor would I want to if I had to deal with people like you. I am one of the many happy people that live at Royal Mills and although the owner has not made good on some promises it is still a fun and unique environment and the apartments are stunning!
