Not worth it...

I've lived here for about 3 1/2 years and it's just not worth the pain in the neck of living here. My rent's gone up over $100 since I've moved in, and service and maintenance here is awful. My husband has family members who live in the complex and they said you have to document every crack in the wall (and there are many) because they will really try to stick it to you for every little thing. Part of my lease is that the carpet be cleaned once a year - never happened, our hallway lights were out for almost a month, and parking is just a joke. I've actually come home from work at night and had to park in the lot down the street because there were no spots in mine!! And you'd think being practically a retirement community it'd be somewhat safe. People open the security doors for just anyone, and there was an elderly man who was beat up pretty bad a few months ago by some guy who was trying to get into his building. The other day I went down to do laundry (where they have 5 machines for 180 apartments!) and the apartment manager read me the riot act for 20 minutes because someone who was there earlier overloaded a machine!! I rent an efficiency for almost $1000 a month, and this is just ridiculous. I hate to even call the office about a repair because the manager complains on and on and then bullies me into agreeing to let the maintenance guy into my apartment when I'm not home. I can't wait to move out of here.

I don't usually respond to these types of things, but I had to respond to this. I've lived here for the past year and I've NEVER experienced the problems that you have. An elderly man beaten up a few months ago? Where on earth did you hear this?! It seems to me that if this happened, I'd hear about it SOMEWHERE...in the news, the newspaper, or just from other residents. But alas, I haven't. And the parking?! The parking is perfectly fine. I've never had a problem, whatsoever. And seriously...about the laundry room situation. If it wasn't you that overloaded the machine, just walk away! What/who is forcing you to stay "for 20 minutes?" As for the rent increases, there are rent increases EVERYWHERE. In my opinion, we have a pretty good deal...everything is included! All we have to worry about is cable and telephone services! If you're so anxious to move out of this place, do us all a favor and actually do it....nobody wants to hear your complaining.

You're reading apartment reviews. I would think that that would be THE place for complaints. The elderly man was beaten up at one of the apt buildings on the corner down by the traffic light. I heard about it from a family member that lives in his building. The EMS had to come and everything. Lucky you for not having parking issues, but at my building, it's definitely an issue when I have can't even park in the lot to my building. It's not like I'm just making these things up. And I'm sorry, but I wasn't raised to just walk away when someone's talking to me about something, and if you've seen that laundry room, you know there's no place to just walk away to while I'm trying to just dry my laundry so I can go to work. Rent has gone up $120 in 3 years. That is extreme to me; and with rent like that, I can't afford to move anyway. I'm glad your experience is so great. Your bedroom window wasn't yanked out at 7 a.m. by a cursing construction worker while you were laying in bed naked with your husband on your day off probably either. I'm not knocking on your door to tell you my apartment issues. Simply warning others.

i agree. I just moved in and it is a great place to live. Granted it is more then an apartment but there are alot of thing you wont find at any apartment. The swimming pool(granted busy on hot days and not always open) The pool table and treadmills, ALL UTILITIES(used to pay 400 per month at my old apt.) As for laundry and parking. I always find a parking spot, and I have yet to go to the laundry and not find an open washer/dryer. As for holes in the walls. There is always stick on hangers, or patch/paint them if you leave. You wont much better in woonsocket...with most apartments not offering laundry even nevermind utilities.
