two words - palmetto roaches

Ok - I really liked the place when we first moved in. The office staff seemed nice enough, and the neighbors seemed less scary than the apartment complex we'd moved from.
I enjoyed the big living room and the patio. The pool was also pretty nice then.

But raintree's buildings are really old. Now I don't know what kind of maintainence people are there now, because I moved a year and a half ago, but whenever we had a serious problem it took FOREVER to get it taken care of.

Once our air conditioning went out and we had to go to the office 3 times before they came to look at it once. Then they said they needed to order a compressor. A month later I went back to the office and they told me that so many people had AC problems that we would have to wait in line before someone could come check out the AC. I informed them that we'd complained a month earlier, they'd already checked the unit, and they were supposed to have ordered a part already. They had no record of the order. More problems happened with this issue, but I will cut the story short by summing it up; it took over 3 months to fix our AC. At the height of summer time. We were in a second story apartment; my husband has serious health issues and I have asthma. There were also constantly plumbing problems throughout our building, but it seems to me that instead of getting knowledgeable help from a decent plumber they kept trying to fix it themselves.

The main thing though that I just couldn't take anymore was the enormous roaches that continuously infested our apartment. We called the office, but they never got around to sending out an exterminator. It was disgusting (I REALLY hate roach bugs), and all the sprays and things I could buy didn't help.

When it came time to renew our lease we were thinking of staying for 6 more months, but they wanted to raise our rent to over 700 a month! No way is raintree worth a rate increase like that! We were probably one of maybe 6 tenants that pay their rent on time every month, and one of the few that never had noise complaints against us, but they seemed to want us to leave judging by rate of rent increase.

After living in a place that takes care of it's maintainence issues immediately and never seeing a single palmetto bug in a year and a half, there is NO WAY I'd live there again for anything.
