Nice place to live if you don't like using amenities, and don't have kids

Apartments are affordable. However, even though they tell you about all these amenities you are allowed to use unlimitedly...you really can't. The pool use to be closed on Monday mornings, but now it is closed on Sunday's for cleaning. Who closes a pool on the weekend, when most tenants are home, and are wanting to use it' Also, it was out of commission for a long time, due to DHEC requirements. They offer no pool side chairs, or tables. The gym use to be available 24 hours. Now they have rekeyed the gym, and tenants are only allowed to use it during regular business hours. They have a tennis court, but noone uses it. The tenants requested that it be transformed to a basketball court for the kids, but like most everything else...goes ignored. The children's play area, is no sufficient for any child to use. The complex has one trash bin, and it is conveniently located at the entrance of the complex; and due to the laziness of some tenants, looks horrid, and unsanitary most of the time. Not to mention the stinch! It probably wouldn't be that way, if the management group would pay to have it dumped more than one time a week. Or even, had atleast two others erected in the rear of each side of the complex to handle the over-whelming amount of trash that comes from the apartment complex. The rent may be affordable, but the rent should be reduced if the tenants cannot use the amenities it claims to offer. The units have a nice set up. Some of the materials used are cheap...like the drywall. It chips, breaks and cracks easily. When I moved into the complex, I was told that they would replace the carpet. Upon move in date, we had left our other place of living, and began to move items in, when it was clear they had dyed the carpet...poorly at that. And we were repeatedly told that it wasn't dyed. However, you can clearly note the change in carpet color in the closets. We were told they could replace the carpet, but it would take another two weeks. UMMM, we had already moved out of our other place. I later found out from other tenants, this is what had been done to them as well. The complex went almost a year without a manager...so the crime rate picked up a bit. We now have a new manager, and like the last one...they do not appear to favor children. We were told even though the lease stated we could not keep bikes under the stairwell, that we could. Now you get fined if you have one in a fire hazard zone. Excuse me, but how many people do you know run under a stairwell during a fire' If you are looking or a place to live that is cheap...you have found it. If you do not have children, and aren't wanting to use the amenities...then none of this should be a great concern to you. However, if you are wanting to get what is offered in the entire rent...then you may want to reconsider, and pay a higher rent to have the amenities. The management group, Picerne, which is based in Florida, isn't of any assitanice either. I have made many calls, and left many emails...none responded to. They are a huge disappointment.
