Property is speeding down hill

When we first moved to The Lakes of Myrtle Park, we were pleased with the property manager (Joi) and her staff. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and quick to respond to any concerns we had. Our length of time at this property can not come to an end soon enough. We have endured a noise level indicative of being inside a gymnasium during a high school basketball game.
As with all apartment communities, we expect to hear a small level of noise. Unfortunately, this is not the case. We have two other residences that believe they live in this property completely by themselves. From the all night yelling arguments from our neighbors behind us to the tap dancing individuals and dog training kennel above us we are lucky to have one night a week without being woken up by the noise. When we expressed our concerns to the manager, (and she since has been released from employment according to a notice placed on our door), we were told, ??We??ll send them a noise notice.?? The notices must not be more than a ??Thinking about you?? card that you can pickup at Hallmark. Not only has the noise not ceased or at least been brought under control, it has gotten worse. Again, we registered a complaint only to hear the same, ??We??ll send them ???? We believe that our noise sentence will not be lifted anytime soon.
If you want to live in a rock-n-roll party all the time community, then The Lakes of Myrtle Park is the place to be. It is very unfortunate that the screening process and back ground checks we were required to pass are no longer in place ?? if they are, they are not being utilized. Obviously if they were, probably more then a quarter of the ??new?? residents would not be here. Looking at it from a dollar perspective, if you enforce resident living requirements, they would be losing money and since phase II is being built it would not be prudent for The Lakes not to capitalize on their investment to rent every unit they have. It is very sad that they are willing to reduce their standards and requirements to see this happen. According to their lease no more then four people are to be house in a two bedroom unit ?? think again, we have neighbors (the quiet ones) that have eight people living there. I suppose that is smart on their [ the eight neighbors ] part since it reduces the over priced rent we all are now paying.
The only positive impact we have had living here is that their head maintenance man is wonderful and fixes any concerns that we have.
We would not recommend anyone visiting this community as the management staff is always in turmoi, a defiante sign that the corporate office has no follow-up, and you never know who will be at the office when you delivery your lease payment. No one seems to care if the residents are happy and if their concerns are addressed.

I think the manager was very nice and always helped me whenever I needed it. I never had any problem that was not taken care of right away. I know that there is a process you have to go through before being able to kick someone based on noise complaint. I went through it in my old apartment community. The Lakes (that I unfortunatly call home) is way over-priced for what you get. The "Free Brunch" you get is crap. My rent went through the roof at renewal time and as sad as it was the only thing the manager could get me was a reduced rate but still even with the reduced rate I was paying $80 more per month. I felt bad for the office staff obviously there was a much larger problem than the office staff.

I live at The Lakes and absolutely love it! If one had taken the time to address their concerns with management, they might have realized exactly what was happening here. The last staff had no concern for the residents and upon further investigation had not accomplished nor submitted any complaints that had been lodge by residents. They were in fact NOT let go they QUIT! Do to the fact that the corporate office was coming down on them and they performance! As for the corporate office not caring about the property, had one taken the time, it might have been interested to discover that the "Manager" is in fact the OWNER and the owners of the property have been here since the staff left with the exception of a weekend and ONE sunday! As for the noise complaints I know FOR A FACT that notices have been sent out! You have to go through a PROCESS before you can evict a residents for noise complaints. THAT'S THE LAW! As well there is in fact a criteria that has to be met to live here, it is the same criteria as for everyone. YOU CAN NOT DISCRIMINATE AGAINST ANYONE IF THEY MEET THE CRITERIA! AGAIN THAT'S THE LAW! IT'S CALLED THE FAIR HOUSING ACT. I love it here at The Lakes I have personally met all the owners within the past two weeks and have been assured that whatever they could get done for me they would! You pay higher rent here because this is the newest and the best community in Bluffton and Hilton Head. At one time you realized that and it didn't bother you because you wanted to live in the best place around. As for noise, face it. YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT! If you don't want any noise. BUY A HOUSE! But don't get on the owners, corporate office, or even management if you aren't going to take the time to FIND OUT YOUR FACTS! This is a great place to live and I HIGHLY reccommend it! |

bigred27, YOU ARE FREAKING CRAZY!it sounds to me like you are the problem...maybe you are the noisy neighbor that has 8-10 people living with you.we are americans and we have the right to say what is on our minds.if you are not happy with management, corprate, or anyone else...you should let it be known, before someone else makes the same mistake and moves here!we have not been pleased for quiet a while, and unfortunatly, everyone is not stupid enough to just break a lease and buy a house.for your info, when buying a house, they do a credit check and broken leases are on it! management LIES,maintenance could care less about things that need to be fixed, the cops are constantly called out here,it IS noisy with people fighting and partying, your car window will get broken, and last but not least....YOU WILL GET TO SEE THE PLACE GO DOWN EXTREMELY FAST!p.s. for bigred27....if there is nothing wrong with the management....why have we been through so many of them?? good question, huh!!!as if you couldn't tell by my brief summary...I WOULD NEVER RECCOMEND THIS PLACE!
