All I have to say is, if you care about your belongings, safety, and family go elsewhere. Robbery is the norm here at Ashley knoll apts. Drive just across the street, past the porn store called "Video's and beyond" and you will find the G H E T T O. And that's not all. drive down magnolia and go down some of the streets. There is even a sign on one light pole that reads "This area monitored by camera by Charleston Police department. No drugs or guns permitted." This is posted in the middle of your neighbors neighborhood IE the ghetto. Robbery is a reality here at Ashley knoll. One of my elderly lady neighbors had her apartment burglarized. Her sister who has lived her 2 years has been robbed as well. When we called the police to report OUR robbery, the police said they had been out here just yesterday because two bikes had been stolen. A closer look in the office "crime log" showed a car had been STOLEN just 2 months ago. A guy who lives in another building was telling me about how he was robbed by the maintanance man, 500 dollars missing form his APT after a hole in the wall was repaired. The guy still works here, too. Our complaints fall on deaf ears at the office. They are aware the apartment community is surrounded by ghetto. The robberies reported on this site don't surprise me in the least. By the way, the office crime log is so thick - yet it's only filled with the police reports residents bother to drop off at the office. Who knows how many people are robbed yet don't get to the trouble to drop off the report. The office staff is uncaring. The gates remain broken. Wonder if we woulda been robbed if there was a bit more "security" around here. Also it's worthy to note the gangs of black kids who ride their bikes through the neighborhood, loitering in the parking lot. Or just race each other in the tennis court, popping wheelies and climbing the fence. This place is not worth the price. Unless you want to pay renters insurance and full coverage or any vehicle you own, paid off or not. Oh, also carry mace when you're in the parking lot. I even talked to the mail deliver woman (USPS) who told me the area around these apartments makes her nervous delivering mail. Sound like somewhere you want to live/pay 1000 a month for' Try Merritt James Island, or Daniels Island if you want a safe area, actually WORTH the bucks. I won't get into my other complaints since they have already been covered by previous posters.
