just moved to Charleston, and was looking for a short term lease while house hunting. they cut me a "deal" yeah, they over charged me, the joke is- I just got a letter saying my lease is up but if I want to go month to month I can at a lower rate than what I WAS paying. (they gouged me).

my neighbors are mostly nice, but there is one loud group of guys in my building and even though I'm not next door or under them I can hear them. the walls are THIN. the upstairs couple have a dog that drives me crazy, due to the shoddy construction I can hear it padding around all night. and if they toss a ball to it, I'm wide awake.

I have two light switches that go to nothing. a patio door that they never gave me a key to. the bathrooms are poorly lit. I like reading on the pot- had to put another light in there as the vanity lights over the mirror are shielded from the rest of the room.

Over all I like my apartment, the layout is a little weird (only a little), and it is quite spacious. I don't like the construction, noisy neighbors (the police have been out at least once every two weeks) (and last night a car alarm went off for 5 minutes at 230am (hey they had just gotten back from the bars), after the alarms I could hear the thump thump of the bass from someones stereo two doors over and one up) parking (its a joke if you show up past 7pm. you're parking in BFE. I would have liked a spa with the pool, forgot to look for that when I moved in.

OH- you're not allowed to have bbq's on your patio... they'll "fine" you, no kidding, I got a phone call because I had a round bbq on my patio, they never said anything about that on lease signing.

and I'm not a big fan of the mail system- they don't ever tell you when you have packages in the office one of my packages sat there for over a week, good thing it wasn't important.

the maintenance guys are great, they are always roaming around doing stuff, I've made two requests since i've been here, a hallway light and some puke' on the stairs, it did take them a while to fix them (1 and a half weeks), but they got fixed. the staff is alright from what I can tell. I think they try, I did go to one "tenant party". the trash compactor is often faulty and trash does pile up around it (unsightly) and the gate is useless. I'm not sure why they have it... or what it's supposed to do. you can walk into the complex, steal a car and it doesn't stop you on the way out'... I don't know.

overall it's alright, noisy at times, ridiculous parking, stupid rules (bbq), the apartment itself is nice, and spacious, the construction, garbage, and gate aren't the best. I was at Audubon Park 5 years ago, they seem in the same price range, of the two I much preferred Audubon Park (no short term lease) know that alot of the other apartment complexes around here are the same (parties, noisy) and not as nice, don't know if I'd recommend the place... it's just okay, for the money I would have expected a nicer (people/neighbor wise) place without the poor construction.
