Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
If I could only turn back time and not sign the lease, I would. Here is why:
1. Model is in MUCH better condition than the apartment I rented, if you are renting here, demand to see the apartment before you start transfering services and such.
2. I've lived in several apartments, and this is the noisiest (and most run down) by far. In fairness, I have lived in some very nice places. We also have two young boys living above us who make pieces of our popcorn ceiling fall in our drinks and lights rattle with their thumping.
3. The carpet is disgusting, it has rips and is coming up in a lot of areas. Each time I vacuum it becomes more damaged. I always wear slippers and shoes in this place. Shortly after moving in, I stepped on a toenail that was not mine.
4. The week after I moved in, I noticed people parking on the grass and thought that was odd, until a prior resident had told me about the flooding. I have seen people drying out their cars for days here after a not-so-heavy rain.
5. Cabinetry and fixtures are old. We are lucky to have new ones in the kitchen, but they are separating from the ceiling. Baseboards are damaged/cracked in lots of places. Sheetrock is cracking along the ceilings.
6. Bugs.
7. Paint is peeling from the walls in more than one spot, although not excessive, still unacceptable. There is a lot of paint on things that shouldn't be painted.
8. Weird oily spots on the walls... what are these' I don't want to know.
9. Unidentifiable odor, maybe related to water damage' There is evidence of damage along the bottoms of the cabinets in the one bathroom.
10. I just don't feel like I can get this place clean enough.
11. Oh, yeah, the master bath tub was cracked when we moved in. It is a fiberglass tub. I don't know how they could have missed correcting this error before we moved in. We couldn't use it for over a week.
12. High heating/cooling bills.
These apartments were probably pretty nice when they were new, but they are in need of some serious refurbishment, and possibly reconstruction in some cases. The layout is nice, but the apartment is dark despite the numerous windows. I think it is overpriced for what we got.
