Very Overrated

I have lived at Hampton Pointe for the past year. Starting with the good, the apartment is in a nice location, convenient to other parts of the Charleston area, and I have had no issues with safety. However, in my opinion, the apartment itself is not worth the cost of the rent. The apartments are over 20 years old and management has in no manner attempted to update them. Prior to moving in, I, like most, viewed the model apartment which really looks impressive. I also viewed the apartment that I was to rent, which appeared acceptable also. Once you move in, you really realize how outdated the appliances are, how dated the cabinets are, and how the appliances have years worth of rust and who knows what else built up on them. Also, my water pressure is horrible. Specifically, my shower will only work at full pressure if left at lukewarm or very nearly cold. Once turned up to hot, the shower runs down to a trickle. The problem was supposed to have been fixed and it worked for a while, but reverted right back to its original condition. The floors are marked and stained. The refrigerator is stained. I also noticed some wet spots on the walls in my sunroom after it rains, thus making the room smell of mildew. While these are mostly cosmetic issues, I consider them important because of the amount of money that is charged for rent. Also, the walls are pretty thin. I can hear virtually every move my upstais neighbors make and during thhe night, I can hear my next door neighbor cough and move around in bed almost as if we were in the same room. Neither one of thsoe is a good thing. Overall, I do not believe that the apartments are worth the cost. I am moving out shortly and would not rent from this complex without it making substantial changes so that they are actually worth what is charged for them.
