the mansion used as the office is a nice touch with its wood floors to entice you. the apartments suck. the exterior on almost every building is rotting away and falling off. there used to be plenty of parking with people parking by the sidewalks by their place. now they have tow signs up and everyone parks in designated spots and now theyre all taken up along with the boat parking in the back full of boats that never get used. insulation is garbage, you will spend more then what you should to heat and cool a one bedroom in summer and winter months. the screened in patio is nice but there is no view unless you get a place by the pool. kitchen is super small with the fridge by a wall so you cant fully open the door and an oven when open takes up half the kitchen. id say most of the people that live here are from out of town. traffic on ashley river road is terrible. if you want to live here because of the location id recommend the oaks or the other apartments that are directly behind walmart. at least there you can have a grill and its gated, not like plantaion oaks says it is with its broken front gate and back.

The community has been replacing the siding one building at a time for the last two years. This is an ongoing project. Parking is not designated. There are several screened porches that have views of the lake or the woods. The kitchen has a window above the kitchen sink and a door to go to the porch. It is not huge but is a comfortable size. Ashley River road traffic has become more congested but that is the same for every where in Charleston as more and more people move here. As for the gates, they are constantly geting repaired due to residents and resident's guest breaking them.

When I say designated I mean the areas marked for parking. Why would the residents and their guests keep breaking down the gates? Replacing siding for the last 2 years??? I haven't seen anyone out there in the last 2 months, I know they're not done. The kitchen is small and might be comfortable if you were a hobbit. There are some areas less congested then Ashley River RD in Charleston, everyone moving down is a poor excuse.

ayrae, did you randomly pick an apartment and not look at it first? They were more than happy to show me mine, and it's no secret that 61 is congested. Furthermore, almost 1100 sf for an apartment is A LOT more than any other west ashley apartment, unless you're paying a grand a month. Move if you hate it that much.
