Very Disappointed

How very disappointing! I'm a college student that moved down here from another state, and from the outside, these apartments looked great! The landscaping was gorgeous (the week I visited) and the "sample" apartment shown to my mother and I was very nice- the carpet was new and the bathrooms were clean and bright; the kitchen had new linoleum and the walls were freshly painted.

OKAY. Then I move to my apartment and am told I would have to push my moving schedule back 4 hours because they hadn't gotten around to cleaning our carpets until that morning. When we (all of my roommates and I) do move in, the carpets are still damp and the apartment smells SO bad. We didn't get new carpet like we were supposed to; there are a few big stains but not too bad.

My bathroom, however, is absolutely disgusting. The bathtub was FILTHY and even after scrubbing it for the better part of half an hour, it remained cracked and uneven (some parts are lower, so the water just sits there and a mold spot appears after 2 or so days). The lining is buckled and the faucet spews rust colored water for the first few seconds of running the water, despite the fact that I replaced the faucet as soon as I moved in.

Our closet doors to our washer/dryer hook-ups have never closed and have no intention of closing because they don't fit together! There is no bottom track.

The roach problem here is horrendous. Whenever an exterminator does come, he always leaves the same report: "Outside and inside walls and windows are not meant to keep roaches out." OH OKAY! I may as well take a sleeping bag and sleep outside. He also always writes "no bugs found, alive or dead". Funny, we've found four roaches just this week. Two were huge, the other two were medium-sized.

I read the review that said PJ had a "nice little playground" and laughed. The playground, with a nice gravel/sand mixture on the ground in case of a fall, contains two swings (one of which is broken) and a rusty-looking "tree house" (a wooden cage about 3 feet off the ground).

The "kiddie pool" never has water in it! The one time I did go lay out in the pool, there were kids doing cannonballs into it the whole time.

Sometimes I will look out my window and see maybe 15 young children who ride their bikes to Point James every day and play in our pool. They don't live here. They just come every day and are extremely loud as they yell and splash around in the pool we pay for.

Our air-conditioning is ridiculous. My room is freezing right now (the master bedroom) because just like the AC won't heat it up when it's hot, the heater doesn't do a thing when it's cool.

My faucet leaks (hot!) water non-stop. Several complaints have been logged about this, but to no avail. There are three spots on my ceiling where water leaks whenever it rains heavily. I was told this is because the roof is broken above my room. The solution''' The maintenance man left a can of the white texture spray stuff so I can "fix" my ceiling if it gets too discolored.

I won't even go into the time my lap-top got full of water because of a spot in the roof that was "fixed" previously.

We have logged so many complaints with Point James and nothing has been done. One of the managers told my roommate, "Unless you are willing to do what it takes to live here" basically nothing could be done to help our situation, which is just completely unacceptable.

The office staff gets replaced every month! Since I have moved in, I have dealt with SEVEN different people about my problems, which becomes a pain in the neck when you have to start over and explain everything from the beginning.

(Note: The maintenance men have always been very nice to us. It's not their fault that PJ never tells them when a complaint is logged, or that they can't fix something I guess)

I would NOT recommend living here. Seriously, if you're on a budget and have to, I feel very sorry for you. Next year, I plan on NEVER going out, NEVER going shopping, and working extra long hours just to get the hell out of here. It has been a horrible experience living here and I cringe at the thought of 8 more months. I wish I could get out of my lease. I HATE it here!
