I lived in Westchase for 4 years and saw the complex really go downhill during that time. The office staff changes so often that it is rare to find competent help there. When I went to move out, they not only charged me to replace vinyl, paint and carpet (none of which were new when I moved in), but they furnished falsely negative information about my rental history when I went to leave. I had to request a line by line printout of every transaction to show my new landlord that the information they were given was not correct.
The maintenance staff does not fix problems well. Most service calls require "fixing" two or three times before an issue like a leaky fawcet is resolved. My bathtub had a long crack in it which leaked water. Maintenence staff informed methat the tub would be fixed in a month and not to take baths. The tub was never fixed.
Bugs are bad here. Palmetto Bugs and other household pests flourish in these aging structures. Many apartments are also moldy and poorly insulated.
Amenities here were once good, but have fallen out of care in recent years. The "fitness center" has poorly maintained equipment, the car wash area has not been restored to working condition since being vandalized over two years ago and laundry facilities are sparce and do not work effectively. Best of luck to you when your clothes dont dry. Now you must add money to a card (which costs $3.00) in the leasing office during their hours of operation if the machine is willing to accept money that day. Be sure to bring a variety of bills as the office will not provide change and the machine will turn down most money inserted into it. The washers and dryers are not dependable. The dryers often do not dry clothes well and you will need to pay another $1.25 per load just to get things mostly dry.
Overall, this complex was probably once a great place to live. Now the place has become a ghetto in the woods. You can do a whole lot better than Westchase.

Yeah, that was more or less my experience at Westchase, although they didn't charge me for anything upon moving out. I don't know why the place slid downhill so much, the rent was unusually cheap when I was there, I guess you get what you pay for, but it's a good location (aside from morning traffic) and I liked the layout/landscaping, but the bug problems alone would keep me away from there. I can't believe that this is what you two think of the property. I have been a resident here for about 2 years and although I agree the office staff has changed quite a bit, everything else is great. Who have either of you delt with lately? I'm curious, because I don't want to deal with them. My experience with the office staff has been wonderful. So has the maintenance. There is a new maintenance manager and a new property manager and both seem to know what they are doing and have been extremely helpful with all the changes. After I place a request for my apartment I get a phone call from the office to make sure everything is to my satisfaction. I did have a small roach problem, but they had terminix come out and I haven't seen one since. Hmmmmm....the place that you two are describing don't even sound like the place I live at. I have and would continue to recommend them!
