Going downhill

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
I have lived in these apartments for several years now. When I first moved in, the apartment had not been cleaned. There were dead palmetto bugs in the tub and no closet door or shelves in the hallway closet. This took them 3 months to fix! While the management was very nice and always willing to work with us, the new management is anything but. They are VERY rude and extremely unfriendly. Considering the fact that we pay almost $1,000 and have never caused trouble, it seems no reason to treat a resident that way. Here are a few of my issues: while they have a computer (2) and a gym (that has like 4 pcs of equipment), you are never able to get to them because they are always in use. You can hear people downstairs walking around. They have a laundry room, but the price keeps going up, 1/2 of them are always broken and extremely dirty, and 1/2 are beaten up from people trying to break into them. We now take our laundry down the road to another laundry mat. They also started charging me for items that were not originally in my lease only to claim that I "should" have been charged for them and now I am responsible. The rent is SO high! I do love the size of my apartment, but there is no washer or dryer hook ups, no grassy area for kids to play. I do have to say that other than dog poop, they do keep the grounds clean and someone is out daily picking up trash. I never have a problem with parking and the courtesy officer is always good when called. The apartments seemed to be getting safer as about 2 years ago, a women was thrown from the 3rd story window by her BF, parties were raging in the parking lot and had to be called on every weekend. We had neighbors that smoked pot on the stairs and played music and had parties on the stairs. We had frat parties going on below us every weekend too! Needless to say, our neighbors are very calm and extremely nice. This may be the only reason we have not moved, plus the awesome school our kids are in. Moving with kids is no easy feat, so I have stayed. I wouldn't personally recommend this place to anyone because I don't feel that it is worth the money at all! Between electric, rent, water, and trash, we are paying $1225. That is a lot considering what we are getting for that! I hope someone wakes up and realizes that they need to get rid of their management and start thinking of the residents who have been faithful to their community and start rewarding us for signing a new lease year after year. I am not sure why a new resident gets free rent when someone who has lived there for years just keeps getting an increase in rent! Doesn't quite seem fair. If you have someone willing to pay rent every month and has never caused problems, seems you would want to try to keep them there' Guess not.
