Great place to live
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 3/5/2009
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
We've lived at Atrium Place for about two and one-half years now. This is a great apartment complex to live it and is very conveniently located near two major freeways (I-77 & I-20). Also, Two-Notch Road (US 1) is a major side street just blocks away.
Community: The complex is quiet and I've had nothing but friendly interactions with the other tenants. Pets are allowed, but I've only occasionally heard the neighbor's dog barking. I've never had a noise problem at night. I've been told that this apartment complex has some contractual agreement with both Fort Jackson and the FBI. I can't confirm this as true or not, but if it is true having military personell and law enforcment trainees on site would certainly lend to the quite and secure feeling this community provides.
Children: There is a central courtyard with playground equipment, a basketball court, volleyball court, and swimming pool. Overall I'd say for children it's a little below average. Not having kids myself, it was never an issue for me. The families with children that do live here have never been a bother.
Building/Unit: When I moved in I was told the buildings were several years old, but they've done a wonderful job of keeping maintenance up. You can tell the fixtures aren't brand new, and you can tell the walls/trim have been paited multiple times. The carpet did have a few stains present, but they weren't that bad overall. The apartments are very spacious for the price (which hasn't been incresed since we moved in).
Staff: The office staff is wonderful; very professional and friendly. Maintenance takes care of problems in a timely manner. We had the refrigerator and dishwasher in our unit die during our 2-1/2 years here, but both were replaced very quickly. The staff is top notch.
Security: There is no on staff security for this complex, but I feel it's not needed. I've never heard of problems here. Being a gated community certainly helps in that regard. I've never had my car messed with, nor have I had anything taken from my porch (ground floor).
Overall: I'd highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone living in NE Columbia, SC.
