I just want to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the experience I have had so far. First let me say that Bent Tree is not in the best area of Columbia. However, I can not think of any area in Columbia that is a "good" area in the first place. Everywhere you live here has Section 8 housing somewhere near, which seems to be where most of the gang activity comes from. Anyway, the office staff at Bent Tree is great. I have never had a problem with anyone there...they are always friendly, always return phone calls and the maintenance staff is exceptional at making repairs as quickly as possible. I think those two things make all the difference. I feel pretty safe in the complex, as the office staff makes every effort to keep out residents with criminal backgrounds, and it's rare that I see anyone hanging out in the parking lots at night. There are safety officers who are residents, and though I haven't needed to, I have been told not to hesitate to call them if needed. I think the only problem I have is that the walls and flooring are pretty thin, so i can hear the people upstairs a lot, but combined with the rest of my experience, I can live with it. It's quiet by 11 PM, and all I care about is getting enough sleep for work in the morning. I would definitely renew my lease, but I will be moving out of state when this one is up.
