For the past year I have been a resident at the Charbonneau Apartment community (off Greystone Blvd). About a month ago there arose a serious trash problem. Residents couldn't fit their trash into the receptacles because they were overflowing. Trash was being thrown outside the dumpsters. The maintenance wasn't really doing anything to remedy the situation. I asked management what they were doing about the situation and I was told that they were doing everything they could. They informed me that the dumpsters were being emptied 4 times a week. I was also told that maintenance was out there daily picking up garbage from around the dumpster but every evening when I'd get home from work it would look just as bad if not worse.

Then about 3 weeks ago, management decided to tape off the dumpser with yellow caution tape. The tape is still up and residents are getting angry that the situation is still not resolved. There is another dumpster at the back of the apartment complex but it is an inconvenience to those who live in the buildings in the front of the complex. Yes we could all use the back dumpster but this does not help the fact that garbage still remains all around the front dumpster. This is causing pollution and is a health hazard. Many residents walk for exercise, others walk their pets. It would be nice to have a community with a clean atmosphere to be able to walk in. I cringe when I drive in from work every day and see the trash everywhere. I had family visit from out of state a few weeks ago and they commented on the trash on the ground. I was terribly embarrassed and now I am embarrassed to tell people that I even live in Charbonneau when asked.

In addition to the dumpster situation, the landscaping looks terrible and the liter is becoming another big issue. Every week there is a landscaping crew that comes out to maintain the grounds. I have yet to notice a difference when they leave. It still looks as bad as it did when they arrived that morning. The residents pay good hard earned money to live in Charbonneau and I just feel as if the money is wasted. Management really should consider a trash compactor and a new landscaping company.

Update: The trash has been picked up for about a week now. But not because of the complaints and the health hazards. It was picked up because the apartment complex was due to have building and grounds inspections. Funny right'' I think so. If the inspections had not come up, the trash would still be an issue. As for the landscaping and liter, it's still a problem. The parking lot is TERRIBLE...it's all cracked and the speed bumps are awful. It seriously needs to be re-paved. Also, if you are looking for an apartment complex with a nice pool, keep looking. The pool is definitely not blue and its not safe for children. The one and only time I have ever been in the pool is when it resembled a "blue" color. When I was getting out, I scrapped my knee on the rough steps. It's just awful. Also, the person who commented about the tile in the apartments is right...they crack and come up all the time. I see it this way, if the maintenance is not experienced in laying tile and tile maintenance, DON'T KEEP THE TILE IN THE APARTMENTS. I have to wear shoes in my kitchen. My socks get snagged on the grout and if I'm barefoot, my feet get cut. I can't mop my floors because the grout comes up every time...be prepared to sweep, mop, and then sweep again. And now that I'm on my bandwagon, the appliances are old, the painter's are terrible, they just can't seem to keep the paint off the wood trim (it's simple, it's called painter's tape!!).

Don't be fooled by the model apartment that they show you. It's really nice - that's b/c no one has ever lived there. It has all new appliances, the tile is in perfect condition, the paint job looks great, and it's VERY clean. NONE of the apartments look like the model, the only similarity is the floor plan.

I wish now we had gone to Tamarind...it's right next door if you are interested!!!
