Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
Hi guys,
I have been staying in Cornell Arms from the Fall semester of 2006...so its roughly around two years out here! Since I am a student in pharmacy this is the closest place to live without a car. When I first moved in I joined an old contract with someone who was here before me. What struck me first is the insincerity in the resident manager's face and her neglect in listening to her residents problems. I have made complaints about the paint peeling in January of 2007. Its been a year and no one has arrived here to repair it! Not only that...when i go back i get to hear that some apartments are having problems for a 'decade' so my apartment's painting is not a PRIORITY! well..may be true...after all its just been a YEAR! I talk to other residents living on the same floor as me! I see that everyone disrespects the manager big time! Its unfortunate...but i guess thats the only way to voice the opinion.
Moving on...as the other reviews list the problems we faced last week...NO water for almost 4 days & no hot water for around a week. It is still ok...nothing a manager can do about a pipe burst right! However, considering that she got no one to repair the problems over the weekend...cmon theres no water! (she does not even come to office on the weekend...sign that she DOES NOT CARE! i guess she considers provision of water a favour)..anyways did i mention that the elevator was not working for 2 days...well climbing 20 storeys should not be a problem rite!!! better dont go to work :)) good excuse huh.. READ ON GUYS
So heres what the management has to say when we ask...do we have to pay full rent this time'...answer- what do u mean>'' If u want to move out here is the move out form!!! WOW..further...here is the list of ppl moving in so we dont really care if you move out! WOW! that is the resident manager
I again talk to the other residents in the building...most say they will move out sooner thn later...others abuse the management...people from floors 8 downwards should really sue 'em because of the pipe burst damage (i saw my friend's apt on 6th floor..walls wet...floor stinking...everything on the floor almost ruined & nothing u can do about it!!)
Well to summarize everything...do not endanger yourselves guys...there are many many more places you can go to...
Pros- Distance from school
Cons- "Everything else"
Parking- to get a spot may take between 2 - 6 or more MONTHS! (ask anyone here)
Laundry - most often the machines are not working (not that there are 20 or so machines there are just 4!!)
Elevator- trust it at your own risk! & be patient if just one elevator is working!
Apartments - u gotta pay for the VIEW!! haha...everything is old fashioned...e.g. taps.
Water - almost every Monday you might get a notice saying that a pipe is being repaired so no HOT water or NO WATER from 9 am onwards! so get up early...btw the water quality looks atrocious...i need to check it in pharmacy!!!
Safety - i am sure they are taking care of the huge pipe burst that caused water to flow from floors 8 downwards...they have noisy blowers so that fragile walls are resurrected and dried...i hope they are!
Rent- dont be fooled! if its not as high as you think it can be then there is a reason for it!!!
That is pretty much all i need to say at this time...if you are the one moving in here...goodluck!
