I'm moving. I've been here almost 8 years, and it's had its moments. I lost count of the managers. They come and go, and I liked only one of them. She left.

The rent escalated considerably while I lived here, but my rent got raised as of Aug 1 by more than THIRTY percent. No reason for it, just the manager thinks people will pay it - her words. I mentioned to the idiot manager that the building has nearly NO amenities, but she gave me mega-attitude. I signed a 30 day notice, and I'm leaving at the end of August. Period. I'm going to pay less money for more, better appointed space, and I feel sorry for the people who pay the new gouge rate for this dump when I'm gone.

The other reports here are accurate. The building has dilapidated over time, from lack of competent care. When I moved in, the surly management annoyed me, but not nearly so bad as the current Queen of Rude, who fired all the people I liked and replaced them with her relatives - obviously her relatives 'cause they share the same attitude. And incompetence.

The Great Flood Incident was a perfect example. No communication, no action - and you CAN get plumbing done on a weekend in this town - and terminal attitude. She doesn't care, because she doesn't have to. She doesn't live here.

My mailbox is broken, so I have to ask at the desk for my mail - IF there's anyone to ask. I went down to talk about the rent increase. The sign on the door said open 9-5 (appending: "Emergencies call 911", no kidding). The office was locked and there wasn't anybody there.

Look around, it's not hard to find places WITH a decent laundry with MORE than 4 machines that even WORK. It's not hard to find a place with a dishwasher, and a stove that didn't come through the Revolution, and central a/c, and elevators that work.

Renters, if you get attitude when you ask about renting, LEAVE. We're customers of these idiots, and we deserve to be treated decently.

Jay

I use to have many friends in Cornell Arms, but on many occasions I have been stopped and publicly "profiled" whenever I went to visit someone. I have pretty much lived all over the world , but have never experienced anything remotely close to the treatment that I and a few others have gone through. I consider myself a professional and tend to carry myself as such. So when I am repeatedly questioned and stopped whenever I am waiting on a friend, whether Caucasian,Asian,Hispanic..it should not matter my nationality upon arrival. I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. Management there are both "unprofessional and lack character and integrity towards people of many nationalities." This is not an isolated incident, so for those that are thinking about renting an apartment there, take your time and search elsewhere, you will not be disappointed in the end with this decision, either that or wait until they change management there, that are not related to one another. This place really should be reported to someone because of the mistreatment of others and lack of professionalism and duty from the management staff.
