You get what you pay for....

I lived here for 6 months, and while I don't have any major complaints, I do think that you get what you pay for. There are always specials; we paid 100 dollars a month less than the actual advertised price because of a special. Water is included in rent if you don't use it at all. It tacks on a couple more dollars to your bill but it's nothing major.
The apartments themselves aren't very well built. You can hear the neighbors all around you--screaming children and snoring neighbors and people running and fighting upstairs. The leaf blower people always woke me up once a week, blowing debris off the sidewalks, which was a minor inconvenience. The appliances are long overdue to be replaced. And the bathrooms could use one of those reality show makeovers.
The laundry rooms were horrible. We used Wash World on Broad River. The laundry rooms didn't work half the time, so you wasted the money you did spend.
Management was really nice and lenient, I must say. They were pleasant and always took care of problems. Maintenance was great too. Overall, the staff was great and I enjoyed them.
The residents are down to earth too, for the most part. We lived right by one of the pools, and when they opened up, there were times where we smelled lots of weed and lots of unattended kids screamed and played around. I'm sure you did this before in your childhood. Not really a big deal. When it's cold, no one's out and it's rather peaceful. Just like the flowers bloom in the spring, the residents open up in the summer. It's only temporary.
I don't recall any gang activity or crimes occurring while we stayed here. Apparently there were some car break-ins, but management placed warning notes up at the post office, warning people to hide their belongings. And the cops did block off the roads and flew over the complex after some dorks robbed the U-Haul building.
Overall, I definitely don't believe Crossroads was the ideal apartment complex, but I'd recommend it to anyone who's not willing to spend an arm and a leg for a place to stay. We were poor college students and it worked for us.
