Great place - worth the rent

Crowne Lake has been an excellent community to live in. My neighbors, mostly military and professional types, have been courteous. I haven't had a single problem with anyone living around me. The courtesy officers (Richland County deputies) are good people who go the extra mile to make sure residents are kept safe (picking up newspapers that pile up at an apartment and holding them is just one example).
The staff is always helpful, often going out of their way to make sure residents are comfortable. Several times they have seen me at the door at closing time and let me in to get a package, even getting out of their cars after closing time to help me out.
The maintenance staff is professional but does have a lot of apartments for two personnel, so it may be slow at times. They do quality work, though. The only thing they haven't been able to help me out with is the toilet, which sometimes has problems flushing. The standard rules apply about bugs in South Carolina (don't leave food out or you'll get ants & other pests). Spiders have recently been a problem in the apartment, but maintenance is quick to respond to pest control problems when notified. The place is always kept clean by landscapers.
The noise level has been good, but the walls do seem a little thin. I can hear kids running around upstairs at times. But overall the place is pretty quiet.
The apartment layout is nice and leaves a lot of useable space. The angles in the rooms give enough variety that it doesn't look like a box inside. Our kitchen is a little rough around the edges as far as construction, though. The layout could be better and the cabinets are constructed poorly (looks like a rush job). Insulation may be a problem as well, but SC doesn't get too cold.
The rent is a little high for a 2BR, but it has been worth it.
