ripoff at the end

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
I lived at Rivergate for about a year and a half. Through a scheduling snafu, they were able to raise my rent twice while there, and I was stuck paying $600 for a one bedroom apt. Granted, it was pretty nice living there for the most part, a few noisy neighbors here and there. But, that's something you deal with in apartments. The REAL problem was at the end after I moved out. They knew I was moving and asked if I could move out a week and a half in advance, and I would be credited for it. I was in a position to do so, so I agreed. I never heard from them again until I called 2 months later asking about my security deposit. First they said they mailed it, which they hadn't. then they realized that I wasn't owed money, *I* owed money. They charged me for brand new carpet after I left it in the same condition I got it. Shiftless, and they never told me. It would have showed up on a credit report if I hadn't called and checked.
