Well I agree and disagree with much that has been said about Rivergate. First, if you are a female planning on living alone, DO NOT MOVE HERE. I am a male, 6' and a little over 200lbs and I get nervous around here sometimes, especially when you hear gunshots at night. I have never actually seen any crime though. The gate is a joke, don't let that be a false sense of security. There are so many people coming in and out all the time, it's very easy to follow someone in. Actually, I prefer the gate to stay open since sometimes it breaks when it is closed and you can't get out! The apartments are old, but nice. I get A LOT of bugs, but I am on the first floor. The bug guy comes the first monday of every month, so it's mostly dead bugs that I am finding. As far as the people that work here, they have always been great to me. The ladies in the office are nice, nothing special, never rude or mean. I have not yet had to go through the ordeal of trying to get my deposit back yet. The maintenance guys are super nice, they are always waiving and saying hi. My water heater busted and I called the front office. Maintenance was at my door 15 minutes after I called, the water heater was replaced in a couple of hours, and they had a guy out here taking care of my carpets right away as well. The work out room is a total joke, don't even bother going in it. The same goes for the business room, laughable. They have a computer, sorta, but it's old as ---- and not hooked up. The pool is pretty crappy too. I'm not going to recommend this apt complex because I don't feel like I get what I pay for. No gate, no eercise room, crappy pool, no business sweet, and the people here do not know how to clean up after their dogs, its f'ing disgusting. I believe you can find better. But I would like to say that it is not nearly as bad as many other have said it is!

I've been living at Rivergate for only 3 months. I would not recommend this place for anyone. I'm a single female, new to Columbia, and spend half my nights trying to find a way to avoid my neighbors because they are creeps. yeah the location is great as far as getting to the interstate and what not but this apartment complex is NOT worth what you pay for. Our gates have only worked 3/12 weeks I've lived here, our mailboxes are not secure...so anyone can take your mail, I have windows that do not lock, it took over a month to have my alarm activated even though I paid the activation fee the day I moved in...and maintenance is a joke. I have an AC/Heat unit that's as old as this apt. complex.....every 5 days they have had to come out and recharge the freon. Don't you think they'd replace the unit? Nope...so in teh mean time, because they are too busy to come take care of anything, I sweat my @$$ off. Unless you're a man and don't mind being pushy to have things taken care of, I would NOT live here!!! I can't wait to get out!!!!
