Ok first Columbia has TERRIBLE apartments, as 90% are ghetto and anyone living there now can attest to this. As for St. Andrews Commons.. my wife and I lived there for 2 yrs and the office staff to us was actually pretty attentive and respectful of our needs, though maintenance took FOREVER to show up. The trash compactor is a joke, as only one exists up front and you will see piles of trash sitting by it for days. The neighborhood went downhill badly in 2004, as it seems section 8 now occupies 20-30% of the place; i felt unsafe walking at night. The pool was always filthy and the hot tub never worked. The racquetball court and weight room were nice touches though, and kept clean. The drainage problem was fixed in 2004, but beware ice storms- one knocked out our power in Jan 2004 and we did not have power/tv/anything for 6 days straight, in 25 degree temps. The apartments are old but adequate; the 700 sq ft 1 bed was decent, and the 2 bed 2 bath 1035 sq ft one was decent also. Neighbors are either friendly or drug dealing gang bangers, watch out. Overall this complex is in the top 20% of those offered in Metro Columbia b/c it's on the outskirts of the ghetto vs in it, but I would not live here again.
