After living her for 2 years of living here, Ive decided to move. This was not only my first apartment in columbia, but my first apartment period. At first, everything seemed wonderful about this place, a gate to keep intruders out, a beautiful pool with jacuzzi, and a wonderful exercise facility. Looks are deceiving. First of all, the gate never works properly, and often traps you inside at the most inopportune times, aka, when youre already late for work. The gate is also extremely easy to open, and is frequently broken, therefore providing very little safety; anyone can come in as they please. The pool is never clean, and was closed for a siginificant part of last summer. The jaccuzzi is perpetually broken, not to mention extremely dirty; not well kept at all. The exercise facility was actually alright, but dont let the management fool you, Ive never once seen any aerobics class taking place.
My biggest issue with the apartment had to do with a raccoon in the attic above me. My apartment was on the top floor, and the animal had made its home upstairs. I could hear it walking around constantly, but never thought anything of it, until it started to dig a hole into my kitchen, right about the kitchen light. I complained constantly and was told that they had set traps, searched, etc. etc. Meanwhile, nothing was done to make sure that nothing could get back up there, so consiquently, the animal dug a hole big enough in my ceiling to poke his head out. Maintenance came and but a big brown board above my kitchen light to block the hole, but I could still hear him walking around up there. I then had a problem with my internet not working. It was plugged into the jack in my bedroom, and visit from the technician informed me that the animal had chewed its way through the cord, and now only one jack in my apartment worked. And to top it off, I then had a problem with my air vent being blocked in the living room. Further inspection revealed insulation laying on top of the vent the animal had blocked my air vent. My electricity bills were astronomical because it took so long to cool down my apartment in the dead of summer.
My problems didn t end after I moved out however. Two days after move-out, I received a bill for well over $700 for cleaning/repair charges. Completely exorbitant considering I had cleaned that apartment from top to bottom when I moved out. Adding insult to injury, they recorded my reason for move-out as money problems. I hadn t had money problems, in fact I had paid my rent on time for the entire two years I was there. I just simply didn t want to live in that hell hole anymore, hence my reason for moving.
Bottom line, don t move here. The rent is too high, the apartments are not well kept, and the management is insulting and arrogant.

I just moved out in January and also recieved a bill for $700. I gave my two month notice as well, but an office person who longer works there either lost or misplaced my notice. The complex "allowed" me leave w/o paying a non-notice fee. But now if apply anywhere else it'll look like I didn't give notice and was dirty. I also cleaned from top to bottom.
