Decent price but TERRIBLE service...You can find MUCH better for a little less space or a little more money

I lived at Stoneridge Apartments for about 15 months and had every problem imaginable. When I moved in I was told that the appropriate "fixes" would be taken care of right away and that I was 1st on the list for a new door (since it was rotting and not sturdy). It's weird, since I never even mentioned the door, they just offered that information. But needless to say, I NEVER got the new door, and saw my neighbor's door (when they moved out) and a couple others get new doors put it. The problems from the beginning that were supposed to be fixed were 2 broken lights/switches (obviously, it wasn't just the light bulb), a seriously clogged drain (so that I couldn't even wash my face without the water being at the top of the sink when I was done) and other miscellanious problems. I went to the office about every other day and very politely asked them/reminded them about the problems and submitted numerous written requests. My original fixes didn't come until 6-7 months later. I had many other problems later, as well (for example the ice maker in my fridge that looked 30 years old), which did take less than 6 months, but still took about a month and a half, numerous calls, and numerous trips (where maintenance had to come back many times to "refix" what they thought they had fixed already).
The walls are paper-thin and I heard my neighbors all the time; I could literally repeat conversations they had in some rooms, listen clearly to whatever TV show they were watching and when they played their music loudly my dog would bark non-stop and the floors would shake....it was that bad.
When I moved out their charges were ridiculous. I can handle things being broken or not working (you get used to it after awhile and just accept it there), but I could NOT handle the ridiculous utilities bills. PLEASE take into account that you're going to pay MUCH higher utilities here than you would anywhere else (I've been or heard of). If you look at their generator, it's the cheapest and consequently the most expensive for those who are paying for it. My place was 2 stories, and the upstairs was LITERALLY a good 10 degrees hotter than the downstairs, so it was impossible to get any correct setting for air conditioning. I turn off the air conditioning, all lights, et cetera every time I leave (and was gone a good amount) and I had utility bills up to $298 (yeah....for the month)!!! Ridiculous!! I called SCE&G and they rechecked the meter, told Stoneridge (who checked and did nothing, of course) and it was still over $200 every month.
The staff, except for the manager, is all very nice; but their managment, in all forms, is obviously lacking. The prices are pretty decent, so if you don't mind all the BS maintenance (that you will have to do yourself--and pay for yourself--or just live with) and ridiculous charges when you leave, then it'd work....because the facilities (pool, study room, computer room) are very nice.
