Not the worst, but...

I had a short term lease here while temporarily working in Columbia. After a series of problems, I was very glad to leave here. It's certainly not the worst place you could live, and I can't compare it with other Columbia apartments, but I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Christine was very friendly and helpful, but the other office staff ranged from indifferent to outright rude, depending on the day. If you need to get to the office within the last hour it is supposed to be open, I highly recommend calling ahead. I left work early several times to pick up a package before the office closed at 6:00 and arrived at 5:30 only to find it already locked up and abandoned. FYI, they will leave your packages in your apartment for you if you pester them enough.
The apartment itself was mostly in decent condition. The layout was very nice with a large living room, bedroom, and closet. The appliances were old but worked fine with one exception--I was very surprised the washer and dryer did not give out in the three months I lived there based on their poor condition. The washer was covered in rust, smelled very strongly of mildew, and consistently ate my clothes. My air conditioner also had an unusual problem: it would not shut off. My thermostat was on 90 most of the summer and yet it was always frigid. Thus my power bill was astronomical: $120 for a small one bedroom apartment.
What started out as a minor insect problem when I first moved in turned into a major infestation by the time I moved out. By the end I was killing about 15-20 insects a day, including large spiders, various flying insects, and many, many worm-like things that crawled out from the baseboards. I also discovered the dead body of one roach that my cat apparently killed. To be fair, I did not ask them to call an exterminator because by that time I did not trust them to only use chemicals that would not be harmful to my cat.
Not being from Columbia, it's hard for me to fairly judge safety there compared to other apartments. I did feel like the areas around the stairways (at least in my building) desperately needed better lighting. The small lock on my door did not feel very secure.
Overall, I was disappointed in this complex. No apartment complex is perfect, but look at other places first before signing a lease here.
