Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
I was initially very excited to move into Wellspring. The community looked safe and I really liked the floor plan. The staff was very helpful and even allowed me to pick out the exact available unit I wanted to live in. When I moved in, I was heartbroken and actually started crying at the state the apartment was in. The wallpaper was peeling off in the kitchen and one of the bathrooms. Not to mention, it was hideously ugly. The wall in the kitchen had a big gash in it. The carpet had what looked like Kool-aid stains on it. There was hair in the drawers in the bathroom, like it had not been cleaned. There was food splattered by the oven hood and on the wallpaper around the oven area. One of the shower rods in the bathroom was leaning against the wall. The dishwasher was so old that you could not even read the settings. Trust me, this did NOT mirror the model apartment. However, to the office's credit, I went back down there and they could tell I was not happy. I did not get angry with them, but rather told them some things were not as I expected and one of the manager's came to take a look with me. She too, was in shock at the state of the apartment and very apologetic. The management offered me two options, to choose a different apartment or to allow them 2 days to make the repairs. The only other apartment was close to Harbison Blvd, which I did not want do to the noise factor, so I opted for them to make the repairs. Let me tell you, they went above and beyond to make me happy. They hired a cleaning service to come in and clean the apartment. Then they had someone come in and take down the wallpaper and just paint the walls with the white splatter paint. They put in a new dishwasher for me....brand new....and redid the kitchen floor for me. They also hung the shower rod. The only thing they could not do was replace the carpet. However, the stains were not THAT bad, so it was okay. This apartment team went above and beyond to make me happy. Sometimes I think it is all in how you approach people with problems. Getting upset and yelling will get you nowhere. But rather, remaining calm and expressing your concerns rationally makes people more apt to help you out. I was also very thankful to them for the effort they went through to make the apartment everything I thought it should be. One other thing I should mention. I had some VERY noisy neighbors below me that would have parties all the time and the music was so loud I thought the party was in my apartment. I addressed my concerns with the office and they gave me the phone number of the police officer that patrols the complex. The officer was at that neighbor's apartment in less than 15 minutes asking them to reduce the noise level and did not reveal it was me who was complaining. All in all, I enjoyed my time at Wellspring and always felt safe. Although there were problems, the staff was always willing to work with me.
