Adequate Living for the Price

My fiance' and I have lived in a 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath townhouse in Magnolia Run since January 2009 (he lived here 6 months prior in a 1 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor). We have both been pleased with the campus.
His one bedroom apartment was much noisier than the townhouse because the stairwells do echo and the walls are very thin, however the townhomes offer a much quieter atmosphere. The appliances are older, and the kitchen counters are spray painted. However, we have done our own work to make it liveable for us and make it more like a home (it is rare for a complex to allow you to paint the walls). The staff has been responsive to any concerns we've had and have also been extremely helpful. On the other side, we have had neighbors complain to us about water leaking from their second floor to the first and other similar issues that they have not yet been able to resolve.
There is a stray cat problem (due to other renters feeding them) but on the other side of this issue, the management regularly sends out newsletters asking tenants NOT to feed the strays, and also calls Concerned Citizens for Animals out regularly to set traps for their humane removal.
There have been some incidences of crime not just in this complex but also within surrounding complexes (Stoesthrow for example) and the management notifies you of these instances immediately along with emergency numbers to call. In addition, the complex also hosts monthly a neighborhood watch meeting and encourages tenants to view this more as a home than an apartment complex. It appears to be very family oriented.
We have two labrador retrievers and it is extremely rare to find a complex that not only allows dogs, but welcomes larger ones. Occassionally when a new renter moves in, and does not realize they are responsible for removing their animal's waste, there is a problem, however, management typically notifies them immediately, and the problem stops or at least becomes more controlled. They also have 3 pet stations to walk / excercise your animals (another welcome change).
We have not had any insect or rodent problems (although we keep a very clean home). We did have a problem at the beginning of the rainy season with fire ants, and when we called the office, an exterminator was there the following week (he comes to the complex every Monday).
In the Winter, our power bill was fairly high due to drafty windows and doors (when we spoke to the previous maintenance man he instructed US to purchase our own sealant because he would not have time). However, he is no longer with the company, and since the heat has kicked in, we find the air conditioning works extremely well, keeping the home very cool (we set the thermastat at 68 degrees at night and have found we can turn off the air during the day and still have a very cool house when we get home from work).
Over all, our experience has been pleasurable, and barring a large increase in rent, we plan to stay for a few more years.
