Throughout my residency at the Paddock Club, I have been disappointed in so many ways. For the first year and a half of my residency, I was more than pleased with both the management and the property. Over the past year, things have gone to h*ll. Management is greedy, and doesn't care about the residents or the property. They have made residents start paying "Viterra", a billing service, for the pest control and garbage. Rather than telling people the truth about what this is, they say that it is the company that takes care of our pest control... In SC it is illegal to separate out rental payments; Viterra is in fact nothing more than a raise in rent, and by separating the payment from our normal rent, it is in violation of SC law. Also, maintenance of the property is supposed to be included in the rent; pest control is MAINTENANCE, and must be done to preserve the value of the property. SC law requires that an apartment community of this size supply a trash receptacle, so why are we paying for what they have to do' If we were paying for a real service, wouldn't they like come to they door and pick up our trash' Also, the residents are pating for Viterra to bill us, hence the additional two dollars on your bill. The gates have not worked for several months, and no attempts to fix them had been made until residents began complaining to Mid-America's home office in Memphis, TN. It seems that the only way to get anything accomplished here is to make so much noise that they will do anything to shut you up. No one that I have spoken to is happy with this community or its management. I am disgusted, have been taken adavntage of, and have been lied to far too much. This place is the biggest rip off in town, and is no better than a ghetto. The new property next door is going to be low income, so this place is going to go down hill even further.
