Not Quite what I thought it was.

When I first moved here I thought it was great.

But now that I've been here for awhile I see the truth.

The people who laid the carpeting in my apartment did a poor job.

It seems to have been laid in pieces and it's fraying and coming apart.

The carpet also seems to be pretty cheap.

I can't see it lasting very long.
My appliances and cabinets are old and worn out.

They need to be updated and replaced.

The building has had a problem with roaches and they come out and spray weekly if needed.

But I would think that finding the source of the problem would help greatly.

I hear noise from some of my neighbors and there are people who like to be out at 1 and 2 in the morning making racket.

I've called the courtesy officer and he just tells me to call the sheriff.

What good is a courtesy officer if he won't respond'
Trying to get something fixed can be a chore.

I've had a problem for quite sometime now and they've had some kid out twice and it's still not fixed.

Plus, the first time he was here he stunk and he got dirt all over my carpet!!!
The people in the office are friendly and helpful for the most part.

But they won't take responsibility for things like lost packages or the gates malfunctioning and hitting your car.

I guess this is corporate policy but it still stinks.

I'm too new at Ashton Woods (several weeks) to give a totally knowledgable opinion, but since it hasn't been rated lately I'll say what I know so far--the good and the bad. Where I am, it's quiet. I was surprised! Someone across the hall closes their door with a lot more force than is necessary with mine... someone a few doors down has a couple of yappy dogs that are often on the patio (it's been screened); but that's all. I've only heard about three instances of someone driving by deliberately making car noise. The only music I've heard is that a few times someone played some on their balcony for a half hour, but it wasn't so loud as to be an assault on your ears. There are a lot of people from India, maybe a fourth of the residents, and not knowing about their culture and lifestyle, I didn't know what to expect; but so far I've only been favorably impressed. Even their children seem to be more civilized than the children can be from my racial/ethnic group (Americans for generations, Northern European ancestry.) Overall, people seem to be considerate of each other. I was also pleasantly surprised by the total lack of cockroaches. Anyway, I haven't seen one so far, or any signs of them. It's the same with mold--haven't seen any, haven't smelled any. There are lots of beautiful trees, big mature ones. I think they left the original ones in place instead of bulldozing everything. There are big oaks, maples, and a few pines around my apartment. HOWEVER, these buildings are old, and so is a lot of equipment in them. There are stains, chips, dents, and tears, and rattling air conditioners, but nothing major. It's no luxury apartment--at least mine, a 1 bedroom, isn't. Maybe more expensive ones and updated ones are better. I have an ongoing maintenance problem, but I think it's going to be fixed in the next few days. One can hope, because I don't want to leave before my year is up. Also, the one I'm in doesn't have enough windows to keep it from being gloomy inside most of the time. I get out a lot, and I bought a three-bulb tree lamp for when I'm here. Overall, I think it's pretty good here, and the price is good. I think it's a good buy for the money I'm spending, since I feel safe here and get a good night's sleep. Not sure if I'll stay after my lease is finished, because of the age and resulting maitenance problems, and the dark interior, but I might. You could do worse.
