Not as good as it looks

These apartments have high ratings. I actually forfeited a deposit on another apartment after I read the reviews.
I am not impressed!!
I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that I may well have gotten the "lemon" of the bunch, but everything about my apartment has been a disappointment except its location and the square footage. 1500 square feet is nice.
However, the carpet is old and stained, the countertops were painted rather than refinished, and the paint job is about the worst I have ever seen. I've been here a month and I let them know about it the first day I was here. The painters came back today to "repaint" and it is worse now than it was before. I've had to take everything out of my kitchen and both bathrooms so they could paint. Now it looks like I'll have to do it again.
There is powder from sanding everywhere, paints spills on the carpet, cracks in the walls that were not fixed, they cleaned their brushes in my kitchen sink and left it a mess and there is paint film on everything. I've had to wipe the countertops in the kitchen twice and still if I run my hand across the countertops my hand is white. I haven't even gotten to the bathrooms yet.
To be fair, the staff has been nice, but not very helpful about this. The apartment was not inspected either before I moved in or afterward when I complained. I begged them to come up and look and they did not. Tonight I left a message on the office recording asking them why the apartment was left this way by the painters, and when they were going to finish. The last time I left a message they didn't call me back.
If this is not finished satisfactorily tomorrow I am going to ask them to move me to another apartment that has been properly painted and cleaned before occupancy. Either that, or I will ask to be released from my lease and move. I am paying a premium rent and I should be getting better for the money.
I've been here a month and I have given them every break I could, but after today I would not recommend Halcyon at Cross Creek UNLESS you can inspect the unit before you sign the lease. I could not because I was moving here from out of state.
Did they know that and take advantage of me' I don't know. I hope not.
