Ready to Move Out

We moved to Halcyon because of its location, i.e., close to family, church and work, and at the time we moved in, they had some attractive lease rates. We have stayed for those reasons except that the rent has gone up every year and is set to increase again when our lease renews. But we are ready to make a move because of several factors. We are concerned at the lack of updating of the apartments. Things are getting run down. Porch railings are rotting. I don't play tennis, so the courts are not an issue with me, but I would use the workout room if the equipment were in good repair.

Residents were recently invited to help plant flowers at the entrances, something that was formerly done by the yard crew. It was announced that pest control would now be done quarterly instead of monthly, and I can promise you that won't be satisfactory. We have had an increasing issue with bugs over the last several months to the point that it is intolerable. We have had numerous plumbing issues. Despite our long term here, management has steadfastly refused to paint the apartment. We have been told that if we want it done we can pay for it ourselves. When appliances have failed, they have been replaced with low-end models that are barely adequate. The message is quite clear that management is taking the cut-every-corner-you-can approach.

Noise from upstairs neighbors has been a significant problem. They moved recently, thankfully, but at times we thought the ceiling was going to cave in. Those issues are more the fault of parents leaving children inadequately supervised, but it also attests to the fact that there is not much noise abatement between units.

Our enjoyment of living here has steadily declined. There have been several local office staff changes since we have been here and the current team is our least favorite. The maintenance men are nice and cordial, but I do not understand why maintenance requests get lost, forgotten, mishandled.

Wow. You have read my mind however your comments are too restraint in my opinion. Especially the one about the current front office staff. I won't use the word team to describe them because it implies a group of people working together.
