The rent might be affordable, but you get what you pay for. The complex is old and, therefore, extremely inefficient. The aparment's main problems were insects and the air conditioning unit. We had roaches in our place daily, and pest control did not come out as they were scheduled to. Our air conditioner only blew air into the master bedroom, leaving the rest of the apartment feeling like an oven in the summertime heat. Our electric bill was over $150 for a 925 sq. ft. apartment; an absolutely absurd amount and waste of money considering we used very little electricity and did not have a washer and dryer. A maintenace man with the Darby Corp. informed us that the air conditioning unit was improperly installed along with some others and that they would hopefully get around to replacing it in a month. This is something management neglected to tell us. The office staff was completely unhelpful and unconcerned. They responded to our maintenance problems with "That's just the way it is." They are unprofessional and rude and definitely not concerned with their residents' happiness. Needless to say, I have not "discovered the Darby difference." I'll be happy to pay more for a quality place.
