Bad pet owners make River Oaks a bad place to live.

Don't plan on sleeping in unless you can sleep through dogs barking constantly. People just leave their pets out on their screened in porch to bark at everybody that walks by. Don't try walking through the grass if you don't want to step in dog doo. River Oaks would be a much nicer place to live if the management would do something about the irresponsible pet owners.

If you have such a problem with someone near you who leaves their pet to bark on the porch, why don't YOU go over there and tell them. There are 4 wonderful ladies who work in the front office trying to take care of the complex and its many residents. They can't be everywhere at every moment making sure people are doing what they should. We are all adults, right? I'm a pet owner and it's very rude that you would say that it would be a nicer place to live if they did something about irresponsible pet owners. How do you know they are irresponsible? And if you are stepping in dog doo in the grass...how bout you walk on the sidewalk.

I live at river oaks and can verify that irresponsible pet owners are a pain. The lease specifically states that pet owners will not leave thier pets on thier porches, and they will also immediately clean up thier dog poop using the provided baggies that are on the posts all around the complex. If you are a pet owner and you dont do these things, you are in violation of your lease, plain and simple.

First of all its spelled t h e i r. Must be one of the CofC dropouts I was speaking of.

The pet owners are the least of anyones concern at this poorly run nightmare.

The 4 "wonderful" ladies you speak of goldie (who is obviously one of the staff) do nothing. Its not for the tenants to tell other tenants to keep their dogs in check, its the staffs job. Until you realize that this place will remain a hole.

Finally, the above author is right, the irresponsible pet owners should be cleaning up after their pets. If a person wishes to walk in the grass they should not be afraid of stepping in poop. The staff should be taking care of this but again, they are worthless so good luck.

I agree with the pet situation. Many of the pet owners are in clear violation of the rental agreement, yet the management does nothing about it. I HAVE approached other tenants about leaving their dogs on the porch to bark, and not cleaning up the poop that is EVERYWHERE! I haven't had any luck with this direct approach. They either say "okay, sorry" then do it again the next day, or they just give me dirty looks. My wife was ATTACKED by a dog that was too big for the owner to control (well over the 100 lb limit for pets!) When I complained to the management, they said they'll look into it. The very next week, I had to tell the lady to keep her dog on a leash, and she got nasty with me. Think about that if you have kids!
