So when I started looking for a place in Charleston, I quickly narrowed my choice down to Hibben Ferry. The staff were so consumed in getting my business, and I saw this as a positive thing. The grounds were very nice and there was some construction, but was told that it would be gone in the near future. I had heard mixed reviews, but couldn't see any proof of it.
So I applied for it! And was quickly accepted! Shortly after I disclosed my private information to them for contractual purposes, I learned that all of this private information including social security number... credit card numbers and pin numbers contact information, roommate info, everything about me... were released to a company that was so kind to inform me that they had been mistakenly faxed this information... I asked for reparation, and was promised this by the main corporate branch AIMCO. But when I approached Hibben Ferry to comply with the promises from their parent company, well they ignored it...
I have dealt with multiple problems from cabinets falling apart to short circuits in the apartments wiring... Bugs are a problem too. I see where the staff spend their time... it is with recruiting... not current tenants. Speed bumps will have you cursing every morning and evening... I have to go over 6 huge bumps to get to my place. You have to basically come to a stop in order not to break your neck... Oh... if you live here for a while you will learn to hate them too! I never get my mail (and Hibben Ferry says that it is illegal to have the set up that they have I was told this by a staff member this is their excuse to not fix the mail delivery problems) and the wonderful amenities like gas grills (that never have tanks filled) and pool (that always seems to get muddy...) are all an illusion and not kept up well, plus the laundry room is always dirty. There is construction that never ceases.
Don't worry prospective tenant... those containers parked in front of the apartments will not move for a long time! And construction will not be over for a while!
So... I can understand why Hibben Ferry has to constantly advertise to get tenants!
Don't come here... rent is too high for the things you are promised but never will see...

Hibben Ferry is a joke! Oh and it didn't end happily ever after

You sound like a huge JERK! If you don't want bugs then move out of the south! You are not from around here are you? Sounds like you NEED to go!

I don't think that bugs are the main problem here. I think this guy had a lot more to say about his living conditons than that. You are most likely the rude staff or neighbors he was mentioning....

I was born and raised in the south but the amount of huge "palmetto bugs" crawling in the pinestraw right outside my door is disgusting. You can spray for that, Hibben Ferry.

Really? As a very proud HISPANIC who dutifully serves his country with honor and pride, I am absolutely disgusted by this review. Why is this post still even up? Never mind the bugs, how about the racist undertone of this review? The pools are muddy, why? Because of "the work force". Shame on you.

Just to clarify a few things, I have been at the property since the beginning of 2009 and there have been NO construction dumpsters. Also, any time I have requested a pest control service they have come out immediately. Also, the office staff has always been very eager to help. No issues with the mail service either. As a matter of fact the office will even sign for packages for you if you are not available. I love Hibben Ferry!
