I loved Runaway bay for the year that I lived there. It was quiet, the grounds were kept well, the management was helpful and the maintenance was super fast. I loved my apartment and would have stayed there if I hadn't found out what rental rates the new tenants were getting. When I tried to get my rental price lowered to be more in line with the new prices, I was told it was impossible.
Whatever, no big deal, I signed a lease on a new apartment (less money and more square feet in west ashley)and had to pay for an extra few weeks at RB to make up my 60days notice. I was fine with all of this.
Then, when I did my apartment walkthrough, I found that my security deposit was as good as gone. Carpets must be professionally cleaned ($80), my microwave had a spot on it ($10), The toilet had dust on the side and would have to be cleaned ($20). I almost got charged for a stain in the refrigerator, but the drawer was stuck in there because of the placement of the fridge, and the stain could not physically be cleaned.
I would reccommend this complex but just be aware that they are NOT going to make any allowances for you at all. You must follow the move-out instructions to the letter (including PROFESSIONAL CARPET CLEANING with a receipt). Overall, it was a great apartment, although a little pricey.
If you want to live in Mt P, it's a good choice. However, West Ashley and JI are better choices for the money.

The move out charges for this place are simply ridiculous. Security deposits might as well just be counted as gone, if not more so. If you don't professionally clean your own carpets, that also might deem them forgone and replace them, at your expense of course. The best way to avoid this is simply to never move in.

Well, as you said, follow the moveout instructions to the letter. You didn't unfortuately. Lesson learned. Renting sucks, but if you enjoyed it while you were there, then be happy. Move on.
