It's amazing how variant all these reviews are. I've lived at The Legends for just over a year and I've really enjoyed it. Having come from apartments in a college town built in the 1970s, The Legends has been much better than any apartment I've lived in before. I feel very safe within the gated community and have never seen the gates standing open. We've never had any problems with random power outages. The landscaping is very nice and well maintained - I personally don't mind hearing maintenance crews on Friday morning (if I'm not at work...) because at least it lets me know they're doing their jobs. I've never had any problems with the staff. They've always been very courteous and prompt with responding to any concerns or requests. I've not had any problems with insects, as they come monthly to spray, which they warn you ahead of time about with flyers in your doorframes. The fitness center, while not huge, is adequate with four cardio machines and 6 weight machines. I've never had a problem with availability of these machines when I want to work out. The pool is well maintained. Our apartment is very spacious, and in a good area, as one of us commutes up Hwy 17 for work and one works downtown. We get a good deal on golf with Charleston National, and the shopping center across the street is convenient for Chinese takeout, Subway, Food Lion (which, while it's not my favorite grocery store, it's nice when we run out of milk or something), and even a terrific dentist.
