Very Unprofessional

I found Canterbury Apartments in the apartment blue book and decided to check it out. Well when I got there the office staff was more than happy to give me all the information and show me a studio apartment. Well I had made my decision. This seemed like a great place to live, and besides they were going to have a state of the art fitness center installed soon! In May of 2002 i signed my soul over to Canterbury Apartments. The first thing about my studio that went wrong was the a/c. It leaked onto the carpet below. My ice maker also broke. I had no outside light to see at night to get in. Well the maintenance guys came over to "try to rig something up" so the a/c would'nt leak on the carpet. I could have gone to Wal-Mart and got the foam tape and put it on myself. Needless to say, it didn't work. The ice maker was fixed and then was just replaced altogether. The fitness center was "coming soon" but I hadn't seen it yet. I didn't see roaches until about September. So I sprayed them myself. I decided to move out because I had found someone to live with. I gave a 60 day written notice, by this time Canterbury was under new management. So, I had to give them a date of when I would be out of the apartment. They told me that when i moved out I would have to pay 2 month's rent. Well the lease I signed said only 1 month's rent. So when I moved out I made sure that I owed these people no money. I was assured that I didn't. Well a few days ago, I get a letter from Canterbury's bank stating that I owe them $495. I called the office to talk to Ms.Brown. She said she would call me back. I had to call her 4 times until she finally retrieved my file and said that she would take care of it. So now I'm hoping that she follows through. I'm not saying that all of the office workers are unprofessional. Sonja and Opal have been professional through my Canterbury experience. This is just a very unorganized management staff.
