Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008
I lived in Maryland before moving into Palmetto Pointe, and since moving out I've moved into an apartment in Virginia. The apartment i have in Virginia is fairly smaller and quite a bit older, and only about $600/month more expensive. Everyone who complains that $700ish per month for a 2 bed/2 bath unit is "expensive" really needs to get out a bit more.
Other reviews have complained that the staff are rude, etc, etc. I find that, as with any time you're dealing with customer service somewhere, you will be treated with whatever attitude you present. I've had no problems dealing with the staff at Palmetto Pointe, but perhaps that's because I don't run in there yelling already. I made a few maintenance requests in my time there, and they were generally handled quickly.
Parking can be tight (or not) depending on which part of the complex you happen to live in. Where I was, it didn't get really bad until 11 or 12 at night, in which case I sometimes had to park the next building down. That's an extra, oh, 20 seconds of walking (oh noes!). They do enforce parking permits, but they make no secret of this. I was given parking permits for my 2 cars with no questions asked (1 personal car and 1 work van). I don't necessarily understand why others here feel the need to complain about this, it's not like this is something P.P. is doing which nobody else does. My girlfriend visited from out of town many times and it was no problem having her park in the visitor spots.
In all, just pay attention to the way things work and you'll be fine. You won't find many other places to rent with actually decent apartments at decent prices. I wish I'd been able to find anything even close to this level of quality (and/or at this price) up in virginia.
