Birkdale Commons...the trailer trash magnet

About 75% of the people in this complex (including management) is trailer trash. Not to mention that the residents are the noisiest and most inconsiderate neighbors I've ever had.
The 'rules' are not enforced equally among all residents...some are given preferrential treatment and others are given fines and 'warnings', which has deterred me from recommending this place to anyone.
Some people leave their trash in the hallways for days and are never given the $25 "trash removal" fine. However, I left a small bag of pumpkin seeds out there over night and I'm fined for it. Some people are allowed to leave their barking dogs on the balcony 24/7, despite numerous complaints to the management. After complaining to management that some people are fined, and others are continually overlooked when they break the same rule, they basically told me that if I wnated anything to be done, I need to complain about each and every violation I witness. Sorry, that's not my job. That's THEIR JOB to enforce the rules. Even complaining to them to take care of things doesn't get anything done.
They also like to give short notices, as well as cancelling and postponing "maintenance inspections". I went out of my way to stay home all day, in anticipation of an inspection. They never showed up...they just posted an announcement near the mailboxes that it had been postponed for another week. The following week I asked when they would be inspecting my apartment so I could be there. They said 10:00 AM. I came home at 10:00 and stayed until 11:15. They never came. I called the office and they took my number, saying that they'd call before they went into my apartment. They never called. To this day I still don't know whether the inspection was done or not. I just know that I don't want people traipsing around my apartment without my being there.
Last year in one of the newsletters, they said that the tennis and basketball courts are "coming soon". Hah. 13 months later, there is still no construction taking place. These people will tell you anything to make this place sound luxurious. Believe me, it is far from it.
The kids in the apartment complex have vandalized my car...from bending my antenna to throwing rocks at it. They use any and every obstacle on the property to perform skateboarding/biking tricks. It's really ridiculous that nothing is done about it. They basically terrorize at will.
Please do not move into this craphole. It is not worth it. The only reason I am still living there is because I am looking for a job out of town and don't want to move twice in a short period of time.

I agree with you. This place is based on who has met Pat at the bar. Hopefully, since there is new ownership taking over, they wil realize that Pat is a drunk and leaves all of the responisbilites to others. She does not belong here, or in Myrtle Beach. Guess that is why she and her pal Adrian lost their jobs at other places. Hopefully the new ownership pays attention to this board. I am dying to find out who owns it now. I can give them an earful. There are too many decent people who live here, for them to have to deal with the FRAT ROW kind of thing. If I wanted to live on a college campus I would move onto the college. Underage drinking, partying, selling of drugs, and people at the pool cooking and drinkig past 12 am is out of control. Oh HELL. I forgot, the mommis and daddies are Pats best buddies.......GET RID OF HER!!!!!!!!!
