Only Decent Place in NCharleston

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I moved to Charleston from out of state in 2004. I tried for a couple of weeks to find a place to live while living out of a hotel. I wanted to stay on the North side for my commute to work and did not want to sit in traffic trying to get to the beach communities. North Charleston is a DUMP. Driving into Charleston from 26 to Kings St is also run down and has seen better days (a long time ago). I had not visited the region prior to my move as my company was moving me down there and had assured me of an equal standard of living.
One of the few people I knew in the area lived at Farrington Apts and after staying at her place for a few nights I decided to move there too. I thought the price was steep for being located in NC. My building was decent, neighbors were for the most part okay. There could be some loud parties on the weekends though. The fitness center was small and the pool was not appealing. There was an incident of a peeping tom in the neighborhood, and the guy had climbed into a 2nd story apt. and entered and was standing over a girl sleeping on her couch when the roommate walked in. Creepy! I got a dog after learning about that incident. (Kudos to the apartment complex for letting us know that about the issue - this happened back in 2004)
The apartment was decent, and the decks are a good size. The carpet was a little worse for the wear when I moved out and they did not charge me anything for it.
The staff was okay - there was one lady (I cannot remember her name) who was great, from the time I filled out the application till I moved out. One of the levers inside my toliet broke and flooded the bathroom and part of the hallway and they came immediately and fixed it and took care of drying out the place.
Overall my experience was good at Farrington, I definitely would not live in the apartment complexes around them.
