My husband and I moved here 3 years ago as our first home and as we didn't know any better at the time, thought it would be great. It is far from it. The noise is unbearable (not just parties and stomping, but cars from I-26 and Rivers and Ashley Phosphate, the air port, AND the construction going on at all hours). We had our car broken into twice and our tires slit once. If you check the SLED website, you'll find there are several convicted sex offenders living on Dunlap Street. I would NOT let my child out the door, ever. And people park their vehicles wherever they want in the middle of the road, regardless if it's blocking traffic or not. And if you have any issues with America's immigration policy (or lack therof) and don't want to be surrounded by illegals, TOO BAD! They are everywhere.
The apartment itself is outdated. The cabinets need replacing (the plywood is chipping and falling apart). The apartments are tiny and far too expensive for the area and lack of peace of mind.
The only positive is the staff. The office & maintenance staff were wonderful and did the best they could.
We've now moved out of North Charleston and Charleston county altogether, and I've never been happier. North Charleston is the deadliest city in the Charleston area and I'm so lucky to have gotten out alive.
If you like to live in the upscale ghetto and have illegals and people from the joining trailer parks using your pool, fitness center, and car wash facility, be my guest.

OH YES! this has been the nail on the head. YOU HIT IT PERFECTLY. i've moved to texas & couldn't be happier to breathe fresh air. and not have my water cut off midday with NO NOTICE.
