I lived here to 2 years and was very pleased. The complex is across from "downtown" Port Royal, so you can walk to the post office, to get a haircut, eat, etc. and it's also very close to Carolina Wings & Taco Burger. It's probably about 2 miles from both Beaufort Memorial Hospital and Parris Island.

When living there, I always felt safe and like I could ask my neighbors if I needed help with anything. There is quite an abundance of Marines and police officers who live at the Preserve, so that immediately makes me feel more safe.

The interior of the apartments have good layouts and flow nicely. I lived on the first floor and did hear the people above when they walked loudly and flushed the toilet, but that's just normal life in an apartment. Otherwise, I heard nothing from the people I shared walls with.

There were no bug problems whatsoever, so the people who wrote the reviews before probably either brought the bugs in with them or did not contact the office to increase their pest control. You can call the office anytime for pest control help!

The pools were nice - I felt like the tiles should be scrubbed at least once in awhile to get rid of buildup. They have to shock the pools, so that's why they close 1 day a week & they usually do not do both pools in the same day - so 1 will be available for you.

My rent went up once, but by only $10 I think...and then didn't go up again. Nice office & maintenance staff. If you have a problem, all you have to do is let them know (and be nice about it) and they'll do what they can to help.

I highly recommend the Preserve to anyone looking for a nice apartment in a very convenient area.
