Thin Walls, Poor Maintenance and Zero Communication.

While the apartment complex as a whole was pretty quiet and peaceful, inside the walls is an entirely different story! Maybe I just got unlucky with the neighbors around me, but I experienced the same thing no matter who moved in or out. I lived on the second floor and could hear stuff going on below me (arguing, sex, loud thumping music) like it was in my own living room. In addition, I spent several nights on my living room couch because I could hear loud talking and music through my bedroom walls.
Maintenance is slow and not very thorough. Often when I called to have a problem fixed, it would take days for them to come to my apartment. Other times they wouldonly fix part of the problem, leave a note saying they would return to finish the rest of it, and never return. You will more than likely have to call many times to get something completed.
On the one occasion I had to use the emergency maintenance pager, my call was never returned. The water went out in my whole building one evening and was out for about 18 hours. I had to leave my apartment that night and stay at a friend's house. Never heard back from "emergency" maintenance; I had to call the office myself the next morning to find out that it was a broken pipe.
The apartments are over thirty years old, so expect a host of annoyances with the appliances and fixtures. I dealt with drips, leaks, blown fuses, poor drainage in the bathtub, sinks that wouldn't stop up, multiple broken faucet handles, and very poor insulation. Windows and doors are extremely drafty. I could see light and feel air coming in from around my front door. When I first moved in there were huge chunks missing from the back walls under the kitchen and bathroom sink allowing cold air to pour in from outside. This was "fixed" by maintenance by nailing a board over part of the gaping hole....nice. Needless to say your electric bill will be high!
Management was pleasant whenever I spoke with them, but not very helpful with those maintenance issues. Also, the office often closed completely for long weekends and weekend-long "company meetings" with no notification besides a note posted on the office door.
Probably the best thing about Churchill Commons is the rent is relatively low when compared to newer apartments. It was the deciding factor in my decision to move there. However, after living there I feel it is too high for the not-so-great apartment, maintenance and management quality you will receive. Overall I would not recommend Churchill Commons Apartments and would tell anyone who is thinking of moving there to keep looking.

I agree, you can hear everything! I had drug traffic in an out of the neighbors house all hours of the night and stomping up and down the stairs and loud music. I witnessed drug deals and informed the apartments who didnt seem to care.
